Andrew (Andy) Duke grew up and was educated in Mobile, Alabama. He earned his undergraduate and doctorate degrees at Auburn University, graduating in 1975. Returning to his home town, he founded the Moffet Road Veterinary Clinic, and four years later opened the Schillinger Road Veterinary Clinic, at which location he still practices. Dr. Duke has always met the needs for all species of animals, and continues that tradition with his capable associates. Since 1991 he has been the owner and director of the practice on Schillinger Road, now known as the Duke Animal Clinic. Dr. Duke became interested in animal dentistry early in his career and has been a part of the expanding community of veterinary dentistry since 1977. In 1989 Dr. Duke qualified and passed examination to become a Fellow in the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry, an international organization of veterinarians with advanced training in veterinary dentistry. http://www.avdonline.org/ Seeking to further his education in dentistry, Dr. Duke completed a course of study for a human dental assistant at a local community college from 1988 to 1997. Serving the community and organized veterinary medicine have always been important to Dr. Duke. He has served as the president, board member, secretary and program chairman of the local veterinary association. On the state level, Dr. Duke has served on advisory committees and the Wellness Committee that supervises impaired veterinarians and technicians. He has been a continuous member of the Alabama Veterinary Medical Association for 36 years. Nationally Dr. Duke’s membership in the American Veterinary Medical Association has been uninterrupted for 36 years. Internationally, Dr. Duke has participated in dozens of veterinary dental meetings as a speaker, lab coordinator, and board member or the American Veterinary Dental Society and the Academy of Veterinary Dentistry. He was honored as Fellow of the Year by the Academy in 2006 and served at the President from 2007-2009.
